The story represented in the stained glass windows in the Sanctuary lends itself to the praise and glory of God. Dr. Jared Gerig has offered this information so all who attend can more fully appreciate the message conveyed in the stained glass.
Paul's writings to the Corinthians indicate three heavens, for he was caught up to the third heaven that he equates with paradise (2 Corinthians 12:14). It is the dwelling place of God. It is represented in the windows by the gold and the brilliant yellows (Revelation 21:18).
The lighter blue corresponds to the second heaven, visible to man by the sun and the stars, much adorn the skies. Their number is uncountable and their distance is often measureless.
A shade darker brings us to the first heaven, where the clouds float and the jets fly.
The lower blacks, purples, and maroons represent the earth, where men grope in the darkness and love darkness rather than light. Here the cross became a reality; here the Holy Spirit came; and here the church serves and waits for Christ's return.
